Bichat bags or buccal fat pads are deposits containing a special type of fat that is held in a capsule and located between the chewing muscles in our cheeks. buccal fat pads are deep and make the volume of the cheeks prominent and the face look rounder. In some people these bags are larger than others but generally speaking they measure approximately 10 grams each.

What is bichectomy?

The removal of fat from the bags of bichats is called bichectomy.

In men it allows to highlight the male figure in a more defined and profiled way, in women it softens the lines and decreases the volume in the central area of the face at the level of the cheeks producing a more stylized effect.

What are the Risks of A Bichectomy Procedure?

A bichectomy is an invasive procedure, which means it requires a minor surgery as well as a recovery time of a few weeks. While the process is considered relatively safe, especially when performed by seasoned plastic surgeons, bichectomy risks can include:

Bichectomy FAQS

It is important to consider that not all patients who want to undergo a bichectomy are candidates for it. As we get older, especially after 30 years of age, we lose facial fat and this causes our skin to sag due to gravity, and if we do a bichectomy in these patients with sagging skin we will produce more this effect and will result in premature aging. That is why it will be very important to go to a medical evaluation.

You can resume your normal activities after a couple of days. The first visible results will be seen two months after the surgery.

The procedure lasts approximately 20-30 minutes, it is important to follow the indications to the letter.
