What does Liposculpture consist of?
Liposuction, also called liposculpture, as its name implies, is to remove excess adipose tissue. To do this, our plastic surgeons in Guadalajara make very small incisions (3 to 5 millimeters) in strategic areas, using cannulas and suction equipment to remove fat cells and improve certain areas of the body.
With this plastic surgery, the body is also simultaneously shaped, by removing defined accumulations of fat to improve the contour, leaving a natural silhouette.
- Surgery Time: 2 to 4 weeks.
- type of anesthesia: regional or general
- Hospitalization: Requires hospitalization
- Recovery: 2-4 weeks to daily activities
Liposculpture Considerations
Our patients have found very favorable and motivating results when performing this plastic surgery in Guadalajara and once they decide to do it, they continue to take care of their body with a proper diet and exercise.
It is important to know that Liposculpture is not performed in areas with sagging skin, for this other plastic surgeries are performed, such as abdominoplasty.
The fat obtained during Liposculpture can be used for other purposes, such as buttock augmentation, or face and hand fillers. Also remember that after this plastic surgery a high compression girdle will be placed in the intervened places, to maximize the retraction of the skin.

Liposculpture FAQS
Like all surgical procedures, there are some risks associated with liposculpture. During your consultation, your surgeon will be able to explain the risks for the type of liposuction you choose. However, generally speaking, liposuction is considered a safe procedure, and if you follow postoperative instructions to the letter, serious complications rarely occur.
Liposculpture is a surgical procedure, so there will be some swelling, pain and discomfort in the first few days of your recovery. Most people report feeling post-op pain up to four or five days, but it subsides quickly, and any lingering discomfort can be managed easily.
There are a few different types of liposuction available. Each technique has its merits and having an open conversation with a board-certified plastic surgeon will help determine which one is right for you. However, almost all liposculpture methods involve the safe and careful infiltration of saline, epinephrine, and lidocaine into fat before suction/sucking out fat. This standard of care applies to almost all cases of liposculpture.
Recovery varies from one person to the next, but in general, most people can return to desk work and light activities within a week or so after treatment. You may experience swelling and discomfort for a bit longer than this, and you will be advised not to perform any strenuous exercise for at least a month.
It’s important to follow all post-op guidelines closely to minimize recovery time and prevent any complications from arising.
